Pangolin Maze

Pangolin Maze

Pangolin Maze

The pangolin is a very unusual mammal.  Covered with scales, it burrows through the earth looking for ants and termites.  Can you solve the pangolin maze?

A pangolin’s scales are made of keratin, the same protein that makes up hair and fingernails in people.  A pangolin may have as many as 1000 scales all over its body, except on parts of its face, and its belly.  Their are 8 species of pangolin; they are all considered endangered by the Zoological Society of London.  The largest of these species is the Giant Pangolin.  It can grow about as big as a medium sized dog, and weigh up to 75 pounds.

Pangolins are tropical and sub-tropical animals that live in Africa and Asia.  They are hunted for their scales, which may have some medicinal effect; and for food.  Human farming and other activity is also driving their numbers down as their habitat is destroyed.  Once a year, on the third Sunday in February, it is World Pangolin Day.
